EFATO

This is an engine failure on the take-off roll that is at or beyond V1 resulting in a GO case. After positive control of the aircraft and flight path, the engine malfunction is diagnosed and secured before a plan is made to land the aircraft safely.

Rejected Take-off

This is when a malfunction on the take-off roll results in the decision to reject the take-off. The first action to reject a take-off must be made BY V1 to ensure that the aircraft stops within ASDA performance calculation.

TCAS event

Two aircraft with mode S transponders come within a proximity that results in a TCAS RA. Imagine this manoeuvre at altitude where the air is thin and aircraft performance is critical?

Checklist discipline

The checklists used on a flight deck are there to provide another barrier in the defence of safety. How they are used as a crew is important. It is one skill that’s looked at closely in an LPC.

Raw Data ILS

Flying a Raw data ILS is an important skill. If you are planning on unfreezing your ATPL then this will form part of the LST. In this video, David talks you through some hints and tips of how to do it successfully.
